FAQs

  • Whether you're looking for a replacement or to improve your tone, Eminence are the only choice.

    There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing the right speaker.

    Resistant and Power are the two main factors.

    Resistance = Ohms

    Power = Watts

    Resistance
    You want to get your resistance right so your amp operates within safe limits - The recommended ohms are often stated on the amp.

    Power
    Making sure your speaker has enough headroom to handle to maximum power you will throw at it is important too. if you have a 50w amp, then the recommended minimum is 50w. Although you may want to use a 75w speaker.
    The lower the power rating the quicker you will get what is called speaker breakup

  • The rich, beloved tone of a guitar owes much to a phenomenon called cone break-up. As the electrical current flows through the voice coil, it causes the speaker cone to reach its resonant frequency, leading to wild, uncontrolled vibrations. This mechanical instability is what gives the guitar its distinctive and cherished sound.

    This list is so big that we can't list them all here. But, if you have a favourite amp brand, chances are Eminence have been used.

  • This is a common question, and the answer depends on how your speakers are wired. Let’s break it down with an example:

    If you have a 50-watt amp and are using two speakers, the power handling required for each speaker will vary based on whether the speakers are wired in Parallel or Series, which affects how the total power is distributed.

    Parallel: In this configuration, the total power is split evenly between the two speakers. For a 50-watt amp, each speaker would need to handle 25 Watts. In this case, make sure that each speaker is rated to handle at least 25 watts.

    Series Wiring: In a series setup, the same amount of power passes through both speakers. This means each speaker must be able to handle the full 50 Watts of the amp. So, you’ll need two 50-watt speakers for this arrangement.

    For most setups, **parallel wiring** is more common, so two 25-watt speakers are often sufficient. However, always check your amp's manual to verify the wiring method and ensure your speakers can handle the power load properly.
